Joint Labs

With Joint Labs as the nucleus of the Healthcare platform, information technology projects in the healthcare sector will be dealt with, thus providing new insights as well as consulting and project competence. Tasks of the Joint Labs are, in addition to the actual research and development work, the coordination of the projects defined by the partners, the presentation of the activities, a systematic marketing and the provision of services (consulting, advanced training, event management).

At the moment there are two Joint Labs at COPICOH:

The Joint Lab 1 addresses networking on long distance.

Despite all efforts, telemedical approaches have not yet been designed and implemented in a systematic manner. Although there are numerous individual solutions (e.g. transmission of ECGs or radiological recordings); We are still a long way off from a comprehensive, population-based approach characterized by quality management and morbidity and mortality-based evaluation. The usefulness of a strategic telemedicine, which is derived from a responsible location, is of paramount importance for threatened underserved areas, but also for special questions in areas that are well served for quantitative and qualitative terms. For this reason, this Joint Lab is intended to implement subprojects that allow the testing of telemedicine techniques and thus serve both the further development of the technology, but also to find answers to economic, social and political questions. The overall goal of this Joint Lab is the development of a strategic telemedicine approach, which, in addition to the technical solutions, is in particular an evaluation of determinants with regard to telemedicine, the appropriate use as well as an integration into quality management systems.

The following projects are currently in progress in Joint Lab 1:

The Joint Lab 2 addresses networking at close range.

Ensuring adequate, dignified and safe care is a continuing challenge for all those involved in nursing care. Demographically increasing care requirements, growing complexity of care arrangements and procedures with parallel or tighter staff resources lead to hospital care, in inpatient nursing care facilities and in hospitals Outpatient care is an enormous work compaction which not only affects the nursing staff's work satisfaction, but also poses a real threat to care quality and patient safety.

The evolution of the Internet of Things (IoT) provides new smart solutions for the design of natural human-technology interaction and the simplification of complex nursing procedures (e.g. automatic documentation) through context-sensitive multimedia systems.

The following project is currently in progress in Joint Lab 2:
