COPICOH central element of the UzL structure and development plan

The University of Lübeck's Structure and Development Plan (STEP III) for the years 2022-2027 was published in September. Here, in particular, the new focus area "Intelligent Systems" is identified as a central topic of the UzL. The focus area combines research into innovative theoretical approaches in the field of artificial intelligent systems (AI) with practical implementation in application domains, particularly in healthcare: "Digital acquisition of individual, structural and statistical data (EPA, Big Data), digital (cross-sectoral) networking of devices and facilities (telemedicine), digital diagnostics (AI-based analytics), as well as digital modeling and (semi-autonomous) assistance of care processes in intelligent environments (from Ambient Assisted Living to Smart Hospital to a healthy Smart City) enable disruptive upheavals of the entire healthcare system with the chance of optimal, individualized treatment processes for all patient*s. " COPICOH stands for this vision and activities at the center will be expanded accordingly in the coming years.

Another focus of STEP is the interprofessionalization of teaching in medicine and health sciences, as well as the establishment of intelligent, ambient learning/teaching spaces for the expansion of innovative hybrid educational offerings. This is also a current focus of activities in COPICOH, and in the projects HySkiLabs, LABORATORIUM and FlexLab, the "LABORATORIUM - Lübeck Health Skills Labs" is being created under the leadership of COPICOH.
