National research project MOMENTUM connects rescue service and clinic

MOMENTUM stands for "Mobile medical technology for integrated emergency care and accident medicine". The project is implemented by the Institute for Medical Electrical Engineering of the University of Lübeck, the UKSH, the Universities of Bremen and Leipzig as well as numerous partners from industry.

The aim of the MOMENTUM project is to develop and evaluate suitable concepts and technologies for networking emergency medical treatment along the process chain from the place of use to the hospital. In order to improve the flow of information between the helpers at the emergency location and specialists in the emergency department or the operations centre.

Since September 2019, the project has been funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) with 6.6 million euros for an initial three-year period. The project is coordinated by the Innovation Center Computer Assisted Surgery (ICCAS) at the University of Leipzig.
