Telemedicine in rural areas: Innovative project presented in Rendsburg

A press event on the subject of "Telemedicine in rural areas: Innovative project presented in Rendsburg" took place on 01 August 2018 together with the Minister of Social Affairs, Health, Youth, Family and Senior Citizens, Dr. Heiner Garg.

The Institute of General Medicine at the UKSH, Campus Lübeck presented Heiner Garg, together with his partners from Techniker Krankenkasse (TK), the Society for Integrated Ophthalmological Care Schleswig Holstein (GIO), the Doctors' Cooperative North and the General Practitioners Association Schleswig-Holstein, present innovative concepts for the telemedical care of patients.

In the first scenario, the use of digital medical consultations between primary care physicians is tested together with their patients and a specialist. This could avoid long journeys and waiting times for patients in the future.

Telematics backpacks should also be used by non-medical practice assistants during delegated home visits. The backpack has been in use since spring at the Ärztezentrum Büsum gGmbH as well as at the family practice in the port house, Travemünde.

The implementation of telemedical solutions for care, as it could be the video telephony and the telematics backpack, is a focus of the Institute of General Medicine in Lübeck.
The scenarios to be evaluated in the project were developed in the Institute over the past two years and continuously evaluated by the Institute of General Practice.
